About Us

Our Family

Minnetonka Orchards is a family farm. In 1970 the Schaper's left the west coast and settled in Minnetrista. They tried a few different crops at first like strawberries and cucumbers. None of them resonated with the family.

Eventually in 1976, Lowell discovered apples and the first '600' apple trees were planted which is now referred to as the 'first 600' orchard. 30 years later, Jay and Scott are still planting trees and much more.

Welcome to our farm. We hope you'll enjoy the fruits of our labor! It's truly a labor of love. We'd love to hear your comments or questions. Just email us.

Our Farm

Where kids can be kids (and apples can be pies).

Minnetonka Orchards, family owned and operated apple farm since 1976, is located in beautiful Minnetrista, MN. We have over 4,000 apple trees that produce 14 varieties of apples.

An original part of the Big Woods, we have retained the natural beauty of the land by maintaining a marsh, woods, vernal pond, abundant wildlife, walking trails, and row upon row of delicious apples. Every weekend during harvest season we pull hay wagons with our vintage tractors though a naturally beautiful landscape. We invite you to come share the country with us.
